Test results

Getting your test results

If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:

We are trying to improve the ways you can receive your test results. We hope to have some results available for you online/using this website.

It is the responsibility of the patient to phone the surgery for test results. If you have been told by the doctor to phone the surgery for test results, please ring after 3pm.

The receptionist may be able to tell you the result or ask you to make an appointment to discuss them with the doctor.

We do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them. It is also practice policy only to give results to patients over 16 or to parents of those below that age.

Laboratory specimens

Specimens are sent to the hospital every weekday. If you are asked to bring a specimen on those days please ensure that we receive it before 4pm. If the surgery is closed, please do not post specimens through the letterbox.

Please note, we request that you do not assume that a result is normal if we do not contact you. The surgery will contact you if there is a significant problem with your results, but please contact us for all results as the GP may have made some suggestions or advice based on your results even if there is not a significant problem.

Questions about your results

If you want to talk to someone about your results, fill out a test results request form and someone will be in touch.
